At age five, he asked why his last name was González when his siblings’ last name was Carabajal. Rubén and María Luisa explained that his father lived with his four older siblings, far away. Rodolfo has always had a distant relationship with the man. He’d recently traveled to General Pico, a city in La Pampa, to visit his other siblings. His father was there and invited him to dinner. When they’d finished eating and were clearing the plates, Rodolfo felt the urge to hug him. He was about to do it when he told himself no. Since then he hasn’t felt the urge again: he doesn’t let it happen.
